Whipping up this delightful meal is an absolute breeze, and you’ll have it on the table in under half an hour. The best part? You can pick your favorite flaky white fish, whether it’s tilapia, triggerfish, red fish, grouper, or any other you fancy. It’s a versatile dish that never fails to impress!
Here’s how to get started: Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees and line a generously-sized baking sheet with parchment paper for the easiest cleanup imaginable. Next, sprinkle each fillet with a dash of salt and pepper, and gently place them on the prepared baking sheet.

In a small saucepan, work your magic by melting four tablespoons of butter and infusing it with the rich aroma of one to two teaspoons of minced garlic. Allow that garlic to sizzle and sing for a minute or two, letting its flavors meld with the butter. Now, generously drizzle this luscious garlic butter over each fillet, ensuring they’re all treated to the same, delectable coating.
Pop your pan into the preheated oven and let the magic happen for about 10-15 minutes. For that perfect golden touch, consider a brief broil for an extra minute or two. The fish will be done when it’s tender and flakes easily. To enhance the flavors, finish it off by drizzling some zesty, freshly squeezed lemon juice over each fillet, and garnish with a sprinkle of vibrant parsley. Serve it up with a charming little lemon wedge to brighten up your plate!
Now, as for what to pair with your delicious fish, I’m a huge fan of serving it with good ol’ Southern-style grits. However, I understand that regional preferences vary, so feel free to go with rice, polenta, pasta, or whatever your heart desires. The beauty of this dish is its adaptability.
If you’re in the mood to elevate your meal, consider adding a sauce. Currently, my personal favorite is the Tomato Beurre Blanc, which I just shared today as well. Don’t forget to check out my blog for some expert tips on making the perfect grits, whether you’re planning to serve them with this dish or if you simply want to take your grits to the next level.
Remember, cooking doesn’t always have to involve a lengthy list of ingredients or hours in the kitchen to be absolutely delicious. So, savor the simplicity and enjoy every bite. I’d love to hear what you think! Bon appétit!
